Majoring Mathematics of Computation

Lucy is an undergraduate senior at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) majoring in Mathematics of Computation. At GIRS, she is currently working on developing the frontend for the Hybrid Causal Logic Analyzer (HCLA) web application, which facilitates system reliability analysis for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). Aside from programming, she also has an interest in statistical data analysis, mathematical modeling, and data visualization. 





Chenxin Yang

Chenxin is an undergraduate student majoring in Mathematics of Computation since Fall 2017. He has taken a variety of courses in Math, Statistics and Computer Science. Currently his main focus is Math Modeling and Algorithm Design. At GIRS, he is working in Mihai Diaconeasa's team, primarily developing the back-end of the Hybrid Causal Logic Analyzer software for NASA JPL and the Phoenix human reliability analysis system.




Yunzhe (Oliver) Shao

Yunzhe (Oliver) Shao

Majoring Physics and Mathematics

Oliver is an undergraduate at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in the Department of Physics and in the Department of Mathematics. He is interested in probability theory, risk analysis, and has some experience with programming. Currently at GIRS, he is working on Hybrid Causal Logic Analyzer (HCLA) web application for NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) for system reliability analysis, and Phoenix web application for Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA) for human reliability analysis. Also, he is working as a research assistant at PBPL, the Particle Beam Physics Laboratory in the Physics Department.



Daniel Nicholas Adea

Majoring in Computer Science

Daniel is pursuing a BS in Computer Science and is set to graduate Spring 2021. His focuses are web development and machine learning. At GIRS, he works under Dr. Mihai Diaconeasa and contributes to front-end programming for the Hybrid Causal Logic Analyzer for Nasa JPL and the Phoenix assement software for Japan’s nuclear regulation.


Enika Biswas

Enika Biswas

Majoring in Computer Science

Enika is an undergraduate student at UCLA pursuing a BS degree in computer science. She has interests in backend web development and has been developing her abilities as an engineer by being apart of the research group working on the Hybrid Causal Logic Analyzer.

Within the clubs of UCLA, Enika is a part of DevX, a student developer club, where she has grown as a backend developer as well.

Outside of school and work, Enika is a part of a South Asian A cappella group called Naya Zamaana!

Junhong Wang

Junhong is an undergraduate at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in the department of Computer Science. He has strong backgrounds in iOS app and web frontend developments. Currently at GIRS, he is working on Hybrid Causal Logic Analyzer (HCLA) web application for NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) for system reliability analysis, and Phoenix web application for Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA) for human reliability analysis.

Previously he was an iOS app developer intern at teamLab in Tokyo, Japan. He worked in a team to build an app for Bic Camera, one of the largest electronic retailers in Japan with more than 1.5 million users.

Clayton Chu

Clayton is an undergraduate majoring in Computer Science since Fall 2017. His main focus is software engineering and web development, with interests in math modeling and machine learning. At GIRS, he is working in Mihai Diaconeasa's team, primarily developing the front-end of the Hybrid Causal Logic Analyzer software for NASA JPL and the Phoenix human reliability analysis system for Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority.

Devyan Biswas

Devyan Biswas

Majoring in Computer Science and Engineering

Currently, Devyan is an undergraduate student pursuing a BS in Computer Science and Engineering at UCLA, hoping to work in/with large scale IoT systems, cloud computing, and model-based AI. 

Devyan has spent significant time in engineering during his time at Valley Christian High School. He worked in the ISS program, where he designed and developed microgravity experiments, and in the rocketry program, where he worked on developing telemetry systems. 

In UCLA, Devyan is a part of the Daily Bruin, where he works in the internal tools division as a part of the Kerckhoff (content management system) team.

Within GIRS, Devyan is working on the Hybrid Causal Logic Analyzer project in Dr. Mihai Diaconeasa's group.

Devyan enjoys music, plays guitar, and sings. He has a twin sister in the same major at UCLA as well!

Khang Nguyen

Majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering

Khang Nguyen is an undergraduate majoring in Civil Engineering since Fall 2017. At GIRS he is working on earthquake ground motion issues in Prof. Yousef Bozorgnia’s research group.
