ABSTRACT: We develop a site response model specific to the San Francisco Bay Area (SFBA) sub-region of California. Within the context of California geology as a whole, the SFBA sub-region has a unique features including shallow (shelf) sediments over basement rock in the areas surrounding San Francisco Bay, numerous basins produced by fault-bounded down-dropped blocks, and one basin (Livermore) that includes both Quaternary and Tertiary surface materials.
