Chen, Ying

Dr. Chen is an associate professor of the Reliability and System Engineering School of Beihang University in China. She obtained her Ph.D. from Tsinghua University in 2006 and now working at Science and Technology on Reliability and Environmental Engineering Laboratory. Her reserch interests focus on complex system and failure behavior modeling, quantitative risk analysis of electromechanical systems. She is a member of IEEE Reliablity Society and reviewer of the journal “IEEE Transaction on Reliablity”,“Journal of risk and reliability”, et al.

Hu, Weiwei

Dr. Hu is an assistant professor of the Reliability and System Engineering School of Beihang University in China. She is a visiting scholar at UCLA since June 2015. She obtained her Ph.D. from Beihang University in 2009. Her current primary research interests are in complex electric system reliability, prognostics and health management of complex systems and physics of failure. Professor Hu is a member of IEEE Reliability Society and also a member of China Prognostics and Health Management Society.

Peng, Weiwen

Weiwen Peng is a Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering at University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. He was a visiting graduate researcher of B. John Garrick Institute for the Risk Sciences during 2014-2015, and now continues his research on X-ware reliability in China. Under Professor Mosleh’s supervision, his research is focused on X-ware system reliability by leveraging the strengths of Bayesian reliability and model based systems engineering. As an imperative topic, the research on X-ware system reliability is distinguished from classic methodology of system reliability by highlighting the interactions within the X-ware system, and being more dynamic and more realistic.

Ramos, Marilia

Marilia Ramos is a Ph.D. student in Chemical Engineering at Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil. She is a researcher at the Center for Risk Analysis, Reliability and Environmental Modeling (CEERMA-UFPE) and a member of the Program of Human Resources of the Brazilian National Oil Agency (ANP), which rewards the best students working in the area of Oil and Gas. She has perfomed quantitative risk analysis on Brazilian refineries, pipelines and LNG platform. She was a visiting scholar at UCLA for one year during 2014-2015, working with Dr. Mosleh on her current research: human reliability applied to petroleum refineries and petrochemical plants.

Thieme, Christoph Alexander

Christoph A. Thieme is a Ph.D. student in Marine Technology at the Centre of Excellence for Autonomous Marine Operations and Systems (AMOS) at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway. Under the supervision of Prof. Mosleh, he is working on the reliability assessment of software for autonomous marine systems and integrating software reliability in probabilistic risk assessment. Autonomous systems rely on software intensive control and therefore special attention needs to be paid to software reliability assessment.

Zhang, Min

Min Zhang is a visiting graduate student at the University of California, Los Angeles from January, 2015 to January, 2016. She is a Ph.D. candidate and also serves as faculty at Harbin Engineering University of China since 2011. Her research focuses on reliability analysis and probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) methodology and their applications in nuclear power plants, including system reliability assessment, PSA and risk monitoring.

Hornak, Robin

Robin moved from Prague, Czech Republic to London and is currently a final year MSci Statistics student at University College London. He spent his 3rd year abroad at University of California, Los Angeles. He is interested in Machine learning and Statistical Modeling. During summer 2017 he interned at the UCLA Center for Smart Health laboratory as a Data Scientist and is collaborating with the center ever since.
